Charlestown

Charlestown harbour was built in 1791 by Charles Rashleigh,a wealthy mine owner it has Not as yet been spoiled to a great extent by tourism , a very photogenic place to see .
Visit the shipwreck center, walk around the harbour ,take a chance to visit some of the old barques and sailing ships that moor up in the dock.
Sit out side for for a drink .Spend the day on the cobbled beach , perhaps take to the cliff paths to Porthpean west, or Carlyon Bay east.
Charlestown is one of those places that the TV and Film industry often go to on location and has been featured many times on TV .'The Onedin Line' ,'Poldark' and "The Eagle has Landed" have all featured.

End of June begining july is the village traditional regatta week, usually featuring various events in the evenings and culminating with Gig racing on the last saturday.
