Cornwalls Best known attraction
Those domes are something else, they are a cross between insect eyes and St.Pauls Cathedral.
Set as they are in a disused quarry you would not know they where there until you are on top of the place.
Easy to find from anywhere in the area .Best time to visit is week day evening less crowds

The Camel Trail
Bodmin. Wadebridge. Padstow

Fancy a cycle ride or just a long walk by the river good views, nature ,Then this could be for you

It runs from Bodmin through Wadebridge to Padstow about 12 miles if your fit, personally we go from Wadebridge to Padstow about 5 miles, picnic on the way have a pasty and a pint or three in the harbour area then back .

St.Austell Town

A small town dominated by the 15th centry Holy Trinity Church which is said to be one of the best in the county.
The town has been pedestrianized in recent years and contains a veriety of small and large shops making it a pleasant place to spend a few hours.Just outside the town lies Menacuddle woods where sits probabley the oldest site in St.Austell the granite baptistry well and the so called Devils chair.

Padstow

Picturesque fishing port originally named St. Petroc-stow Known locally for the "Obby Oss" festival that takes place on May Day and the associated festivities.Good restaurants, boat trips etc.

The lost gardens of Heligan

Mevagissey ,

Yes I know it's a garden ,but what a garden, take a walk through time ,look at pineapples growing, redwood trees,
cascading lakes to the valley floor, jungle walks,Victorian walled gardens its got the lot.

Tintagel

Home of the legendary King Arthur's Camelot .(or so they say) And every thing is set to run on this theme.

Newquay

Every one visits for the beaches and surfing. Although a pleasant place for a stroll along the promenade.
Plenty of good hotels ,camp sites ,restaurant and shops.
For the younger person this is Cornwall's hot spot , night clubs like Tall Trees, Berties and the most well known Sailors.
For the kids there is loads of places to visit and play. Including the Zoo, Trenance boating lake and gardens.

Charlestown harbour was built in 1791 by Charles Rashleigh,a wealthy mine owner it has Not as yet been spoiled to a great extent by tourism , a very photogenic place to see .
Visit the shipwreck museum , walk around the harbour, take a chance to visit some of the old barques and sailing ships that moor up in the dock.
Sit out side for for a drink .Spend the day on the cobbled beach , perhaps take to the cliff paths to Porthpean west, or Carlyon Bay east.
Charlestown is one of those places that the TV and Film industry often go to on location and has been featured many times on TV .'The Onedin Line' and 'Poldark' are but two such .

Truro

The only city in Cornwall.More like a large market town really with cobbled streets with the benefits of a small city. A trip down the river Fal to Falmouth can be a worthwhile trip. Visit Cornwall's main museum, walk around the cathedral ,walk along the river at Malpas these are but a few of the attractions for the visitor.

Falmouth

One of the worlds best known deep sea harbours. called the Carrick Roads this is the third largest natural harbour in the world.Visit Pendennis castle, grounds and museum.Catch the ferry to St. Mawes to look at the fort and harbour village or hire your own boat to nose around the bay.

Helston

Best known for the " Furry Dance "held in early may, and R.N.A.F Culdrose just up the road.
Handy as a starting place to visit most of West Cornwall's attractions .i.e. :
,Earth Station Goonhilly a must see for science and communications history
Gweek seal sanctuary, A rescue center for the local sea mammals. Flambards one of the areas biggest attractions made up of rides and a aircraft display, Britain in the blitz and a Victorian village all under cover. Lizard Point Lighthouse and coastal walks.

Walk the causeway or catch the ferry over to this island in the bay to visit the historical house and gardens

Roche Rock
This is an old hermits retreat on the top of a granite out crop in the village of Roche just off the main A30 A good spot to stop for a stroll on the way west

 

Newlyn and Mousehole

Very pretty working fishing ports. The best time to visit these is at Christmas when they really go to town on the lights in the harbours, and on the boats even the locals travel down to see them for a good night out.

Lands End

What's to say great views fantastic walks and the facilities in the complex are well worth taking advantage of especially the land of legends .Sennen Cove is just a short walk from Lands End .Also in the area is The Minack Theater which puts on open air shows Classical and modern throughout the summer season.

Coastal walks

Some of the best coastal walks , view's and beaches are to be found on the north coast of Cornwall from Hayle to Bude plus many small harbours ,towns and attractions

Rather be alone to walk and contemplate then visit the less known sites .Dozmary pool on Bodmin moor just down the road from Jamaica Inn is said to be bottomless ,and is part of the folklore story of Jan Tregeagle.Then a few miles away near Minions the rocks of the Cheese Ring teeter over the moor. King Donerts stone ,Golitha falls,Siblyback resovour and some of the most accessible parts of the moors are all within a few miles of Liskeard town.

Minions

If your in the St. Austell area walking the cliffs from Fowey across to the Gribben head via Menabilly then on to Polkerris and Par across the beach to Carlyon bay finally stopping at Charlestown would make a good days leisurely walk .Or Carlyon bay to Charlsetown ,no more than an hours stroll , on to Porthpean across to Black Head only a few miles around the bay giving spectacular views all the way.Just about any of the coastal towns and villages can be walked to in this way,some people spend weeks every year walking the coast of cornwall to see some of the most spectacular views in Britain
